About Nomadic Baker

I'm Aubrey Johnson, baker and author of Nomadic Baker.  I'm glad you're here on this journey with me!

I have always loved reading and spending hours in a good book.  It wasn't until I started flipping through recipes in my mom's cookbooks and magazines that I translated my love of reading into a love of good food.  My idea of fun became grocery shopping, planning meals, and spending time in the kitchen, mainly so I could eat delicious food and share that food with others.  :)  In 2018 I pursued my passion for food by obtaining an Associate's Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts.  I enjoyed learning new skills, making lasting friends, and feeling like I was in a baking competition with fellow classmates! 

 

My culinary degree took me back into teaching, which was an earlier pursuit.  I currently spend more time in my science classroom than the kitchen.  As a way to feed my culinary passions in my spare time, I have decided to take on the challenge of baking every recipe in one of my favorite cookbooks over the next year.  My nomadic lifestyle of the past ten years has allowed me to experience different landscapes, cultures, climates, people, and foods.  Over the next year of baking I'd love to share those experiences and stories with you.
